Pain Treatments We Offer
Injections for Pain Relief
We offer different types of injections to help reduce pain:

- Anesthetic Injections – for pain in the legs, feet, neck, chest, arms, abdomen, and trigger points
- Nerve Blocks – to stop pain signals from reaching the brain
Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS)
Spinal Cord Stimulation is a treatment that uses a small device to send signals to your spine and block pain. It’s often used for:
- Pain that continues after back surgery
- Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
Try It First
You can try this treatment before getting the permanent device. Here’s how it works:
- A doctor places small wires under your skin during a simple outpatient procedure.
- The wires connect to a small device outside your body (about the size of a deck of cards).
- You wear it for about a week to see if it helps.
- If it works well, you and your doctor can decide to place the permanent device.

Meet Our Care Team
Amanda Colgan, MD
Pain Management
Amanda Colgan knew she wanted to be a physician at a young age.
“I was five or six when I knew that I wanted to be a doctor. I really enjoyed science and figuring out how things work,” she said. “When I got into med school and saw how I could help patients, that’s when it really hit that I was taking care of them and making them feel better.”
Dr. Colgan grew up in Topeka and earned her undergraduate degree from Washburn and her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine internship at Virginia Commonwealth University and a residency in anesthesia at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she was exposed to pain management.
“I had a wonderful mentor. He helped me see that taking care of patients and getting them back to their quality of life and diminishing their pain was really important,” she explained.
That experience led Dr. Colgan to complete an interventional pain management fellowship at the University of Vermont. She now specializes in chronic pain management.
“Chronic pain can be difficult to treat. I really want to understand what’s going on with my patients and what’s going on with their pain so we can come up with the best plan to help them get back to doing what they enjoy.”
Dr. Colgan is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the Kansas Society of Anesthesiology.
