“I believe in focusing on the care provided to employees and keeping them working is not only good for the employees and their families, but it is also beneficial for companies and our community as a whole.”
- Thomas J Deskin, MD
Dr. Thomas Deskin was an ER physician for 28 years before shifting to occupational medicine, a specialty with a different focus.
“Now I treat a lot of injuries and try to prevent unnecessary ER visits. I communicate with patients and employers during every step of the process, and they know exactly what the plan is. There aren’t any surprises.”
Dr. Deskin earned his undergraduate degree at the University of New Mexico. He earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
What advice would he give to a potential patient? Spend time trying to prevent injuries from occurring in the first place.
“It’s important to spend as much time trying to prevent injuries as you do trying to recover from them.”
“I believe in focusing on the care provided to employees and keeping them working is not only good for the employees and their families, but it is also beneficial for companies and our community as a whole.”
